Is Special Counsel Robert Mueller Now Investigating The Justice Department?

CBS News

ABC News: Special Counsel sends wide-ranging request for documents to Justice Department

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team investigating whether President Donald Trump sought to obstruct a federal inquiry into connections between his presidential campaign and Russian operatives has now directed the Justice Department to turn over a broad array of documents, ABC News has learned.

In particular, Mueller's investigators are keen to obtain emails related to the firing of FBI Director James Comey and the earlier decision of Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from the entire matter, according to a source who has not seen the specific request but was told about it.

Issued within the past month, the directive marks the special counsel's first records request to the Justice Department, and it means Mueller is now demanding documents from the department overseeing his investigation.

WNU Editor: Attorney General Jeff Sessions's decision to recuse himself from the entire Russian inquiry has now put him in the cross-hairs of the Mueller Commission. So much for him thinking that this would not touch him if decided to step away. He either got poor advice when he made the decision to recuse himself .... or he never calculated the consequences of his actions. Bottom line .... Mueller is now demanding documents from the department overseeing his investigation, or to put it bluntly .... Attorney General Jeff Sessions now finds himself answerable to Robert Mueller and not the other-way around.

Sessions should have stayed in his comfy Senate rocker in AL. This is a win win for Dems; Trump gets an utterly incompetent AG and Dems get his old senate seat.

/Coudn't have planned it better!

Trump was trying to coalition build by appointing a senator.

Good things can be said of Sessions as a prosecutor. He got KKK member(s) charge, convicted and sentenced to death.

Trump did not back Moore. Moore was not his pick.

Sessions and others better get some backbone and have a special prosecutor for Uranium One.

Maybe Putin should choose a side.

If he stays out of it, he will have a crazy side that will have nukes.

The side that cries "Russia, Russia, Russia".

The kind that did the Red Guards thing in China during the Cultural Revolution.

Or would conduct the purges in 1930s Russia.

The US is not crazy, Aizino. Don't be fooled. I've spent a lot of time there - from the east to the west and in some of the "flyover" states. What -is- crazy and begins to get out of control is the involvement of uncontrolled spending with little oversight and punishment for those who blatantly abuse legal loopholes and are straight up enriching themselves... the housing bubble and crash was caused by that, the 1% divide is caused by that, the military industrial complex, the privatised prison complex, fake news (the privatisation of news with little control), massive student debt crushing an entire generation etc etc you know what I mean. ..it's all about making money... Apple is going to be the first $1tn company soon. Do you think the modern slaves assembling our phones get their fair share? We need to revisit capitalism...because as it stands now it's out of control and the crazyness you observe are symptoms of that disease. But we cannot go towards socialism either. .capitalism has helped a lot of people to get out of poverty and to avoid starvation and to get medicine. ..I'm Pro capitalism. .but we need capitalism 2.0 and we need it badly

"Do you think the modern slaves assembling our phones get their fair share? "

I do not buy apple stuff. Unfortunately, home for the summer worked as a Walmart cashier to buy an iphone 4.

I wan the phones made in the USA in Wisconsin. Trump is getting this done.

There is a lot of crony capitalism. I have also read circa 2004 in in Foreign Affairs about 'state capitalism'. I believe it was a fairly new term then And I was not too far behind the power curve.

Let's put it this way. Capitalism is about as much of a system as ANSI standard SQL is a complete language. Fore example Last time I check SQL did not have loop structures. Too bad mouth capitalism does not make sense.

We need a new term beside crony capitalism or mercantalism. Something to describe how the tax code is never settled, but gamed.

Something to describe how Senator Sherrod can offer up a change in the tax code for private jets and then turnaround and said he did not do that. I looked up where Senate Bill he sponsored. I also saw the quote where "the mouth of Sherrod" said he did no such thing.
